Matt Nolker

Matt Nolker

As the head of Pathfinder’s User Experience Design group, Matt brings over 15 years of experience in information architecture, usability, and solution design to bear on our clients’ projects. Matt’s experience with the challenges of designing for the web stretches back to 1993, when he left The Onion to begin an online publishing venture. Since then, he has worked as the lead information architect for First Chicago/Bank One’s Internet banking application, and lead brand, marketing and user experience design projects for clients such as Motorola, the NYSE, The Chicago Sun-Times and Procter & Gamble.

Sholom Sandalow

Sholom Sandalow

As an Interface Designer for Pathfinder, Sholom creates an application’s visual experience. Although his tasks vary depending on the type of software being built, his goal is always to ensure that the design phase follows Pathfinder’s rigorous process, and that the application meets high standards of usability. His work was featured among other places, at the 2002 NBA All Star game in Atlanta, Madison Square Garden, and on National Television, and his clients included American Express, the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Association, Garnier and the Telecom Pioneers. He has also created interactive DVDs, electronic billboards and corporate presentations.

Dr. Susan Weinschenk

Dr. Susan Weinschenk

Dr. Susan Weinschenk is Chief of Technical Staff at Human Factors International. She has been an industry leader in the field of usability for over 25 years. Dr. Weinschenk has a Ph.D. in Psychology from Pennsylvania State University, with three books on usability published by John Wiley and Sons. In October she was an invited speaker at the Mayo Clinic’s conference on Human Factors in Patient Care. Her clients in healthcare include Mini-Med, Medtronic, and Medicinenet.com. She has designed systems for programming pacemakers in the operating room, heuristic evaluations of medical websites, and PDA devices for interns doing surgery.

Aga Bojko

Aga Bojko

Aga is a Chief Scientist and Associate Director at User Centric, Inc, a user experience consulting firm based in Chicago. Her expertise lies in user-centered design and evaluation of products across a range of industries, including healthcare. Aga focuses on applying various user research methodologies to answer questions regarding medication safety and usability of medical packaging, labeling, and instructions. She directs global user research studies, publishes papers on various topics, and presents at national and international conferences. Aga holds graduate degrees in Human Factors and Human-Computer Interaction from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and DePaul University in Chicago, respectively.

Gavin Lew

Gavin Lew

Gavin is a Managing Director at User Centric, Inc, a user experience consulting firm based in Chicago. He has over 15 years of human factors experience in corporate and academic environments. He was formerly President of an Internet start-up, principal at a Web development company, a member of Ameritech’s human factors group, and, prior to founding User Centric in 1998, a director at Human Factors International. Gavin’s expertise encompasses user experience research and user-centered design of various products, including medical devices for in-home and in-hospital use. Gavin holds a Master’s Degree in Experimental Psychology from Loyola University.

Emil Georgiev

Emil Georgiev

Emil is a Design Research Lead with the Global Design organization of GE Healthcare. His focus is on driving innovation, based on user needs and insights and integrating this approach in the overall marketing process of GE Healthcare. Emil has also worked in the past 5 years to merge the UCD and Design For Six Sigma (DFSS) methodologies into a single approach. He is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt with over 6 years of prior Six Sigma experience in project management and consulting. Emil holds an M.S. and PhD. Degrees in Chemistry.

Carol Shillinglaw

Carol Shillinglaw

Carol joined GE Healthcare (then Medical Systems) Service Operations division in 1992. From 1992 – 1997 she held a variety of roles in Service Operations and Services Sales and ultimately drove the constitution of the Multi-Vendor Analysis & Pricing Team, which she then led from 1997 to 1999. Recognizing that a truly successful brand image is highly dependent upon delivering high quality, usable products & systems that enhance the experience of users & patients alike, she constituted and has led the Interaction Design Group since late 2003. Carol’s team is highly instrumental in leading & educating the business in User-Centered Design practices.

Jeremy Alexis

Jeremy Alexis is an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Design. He holds both a Bachelor of Architecture and Master of Design degree from the Illinois Institute of Technology. He teaches classes in decision-making, concept evaluation, and problem framing. He is also advises students during their Research and Demonstration projects. Jeremy has spent the majority of his professional career leading interdisciplinary teams tasked with defining next generation products, services, and business models. He has worked with clients such as Unilever, Motorola, Citibank, Pfizer, American Express, Target Corporation, and Zebra Technologies.
